Yeah, as you can tell, there’s not been a whole lotta posting on the blog.  I’m trying to figure out what to do with it.  I honestly haven’t cared much to post on it, so I haven’t   Not too much been going on that’s exciting, I guess.  You might have come here since you got a Christmas card in the mail, and you noticed the website listed.  Sorry to disappoint.

Currently,  I’m working to finish transferring and editing home movie footage for some parents of a good friend.  I’ve worked on a few transfers for other people, and so far they seem pleased.  It would probably boost business to have a website dedicated to that, so if you have suggestions, I’m all ears!

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season, Christmas, Hanukkah, etc…  =)

….Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve posted. And I don’t have much to add. I’ve been up all night working on John & Rebecca’s wedding video transfer/edit to DVD….just have to compress to MPEG-2, burn the disc and deliver. I think they’re gonna love it. The theme is killer – nice brown/gold tones with automatic sepia conversions for images in the menus, and a subtle but fluid and pleasing transition. Praise be to Apple and DVD Studio Pro! Before this video, I was working 8-16 hour days for the last 6 weeks on my Aunt Yvonne and Uncle Randall’s home videos – about 29 hours worth of tape. Yes, it shouldn’t have taken me that long, but this was my first big project, thus a learning curve. It delivered on Wednesday, and I feel pretty confident they will get a lot of enjoyment out of it. My favorite part is the 2 highlight reels of Kelsey and Jared from all of the basketball videos that Randall shot when they grew up….4 hours of footage compressed into 3 minutes each with a up-tempo music track behind it.

Anyone else have videos to preserve? Call me up and let’s get it done.

Oh yeah, Facebook distracted me a bit from the blog, I must confess. =)

I’ts about 3:40pm, Dallas time…I’m 4th out of ~130 in line at the NorthPark Apple Store. In about 2 hours time I’ll be a little richer, and able to – pay rent. Sexy, eh?

Check out this clip from a Wired article.  I’m a little confused on this one too.  You?

The head of the article:

WASHINGTON (CNN) — E-mail records are missing for 51 of the 88 White House aides with Republican Party accounts, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee reported Monday.

The White House says the accounts were set up to keep political work separate from official business, but investigators concluded White House officials used the accounts to conduct official business in a way that circumvented the Watergate-era Presidential Records Act.

The 37 accounts the Republican National Committee did save include nearly 675,000 individual messages — more than 140,000 of them from Karl Rove, President Bush’s top political adviser.

Have any good answers?

I’ve flown up to Seattle for a few days to visit some friends, a cousin, and enjoy some beautiful NW scenery.  It’s nice and temperate…and I’ve already gone on some great hikes.   Tomorrow it’s looking like I’ll head to Mt. Ranier with Greg  near Paradise, WA.  I’m stoked!  I know I’ve been neglecting this site – one reason is I just discovered Facebook – check out my site, if you like.  I might even have to start up a Flickr page that I’ll link to here soon.   This is quite a different town vs. Dallas – a much different vibe.  It’s still a big city, though somewhat comparable to Portland..maybe?  Anyways, I’ll have more to report once I’m back to Big D.  And being broke – no – in debt.  This has been a much-needed get-away.   Though I wish a friend of mine didn’t have to cancel his wedding, I had at least a good financial reason to go (tied up $$ that I had to use by June 13th.).  Bed time.

I have now made the switch to Gmail, so fastmail.fm is off my blogroll.  Don’t get me wrong – fastmail’s email service is top notch.  Tons of flexibility and control.  Though now, I’ve got my domain back, if you’ve noticed up top.  Woohoo!   I’m really liking Gmail’s conversations arrangement of emails – much easier to follow an exchange back and forth.  And BIG kudos to WordPress.com for providing email as well as domain mapping to make this all possible!

This new theme rocks!  Agree?  I took this picture up top at the Dallas Arboretum a few weeks ago – it’s a bit fuzzy, though it feels fun and Spring-like.  I’m in Houston helping out my mom since she’s got bronchitis and possible pneumonia, along with a jacked-up right hand and a cough that won’t sit still.  I’m trying my best to be back for Lindsey’s graduation…go Lindsey!  I’m so intensely proud of you! =)

Wired with a story on the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act, just passed by the House.  Anyone know if insurance companies have started using genetics in their policies?

Man, it’s gorgeous outside.  It rained off and on all day yesterday, with thunderstorms sprinkled around, and a tornado watch to boot.  Then, I wake up to a bright, clear, crisp, breezy day, where you just gotta have the windows rolled down while you’re driving.  Looking up while I step outside my apartment door to take an editing break, the clouds just seem to ‘pop’, as if  looking through a polarized lens.  I first experienced (that I can recall) how different the sky can look when I went to Portland, Oregon in March of 2001 for work – it just had a totally different feel to it.  Nothing like it had I seen in Texas or anywhere else.  I don’t know how it works like that over in the Northwest US, but it does. It’s a shame that the sky isn’t clear and crisp all the time, like how it should be….If only there was a device where I could just Photoshop the sky every day.
